There is no special magic to achieving the six pack look that so many people are after; it is simply a matter of the correct diet and exercise. There isn’t a six pack abs workout that will achieve the desired results overnight, but if you are consistent with your diet and exercise, you should start to see some results in about 6 weeks.

Tip 1: You will probably be carrying excess body fat; it needs to go. The fastest way to burn fat is to get some moderate cardio activity 5 or 6 days a week – you need 45 to 60 minutes of sustained activity of brisk walking, jogging, swimming or cycling. Try to vary your activity to work all muscle groups. Remember to warm up before and cool down after a cardio workout, and if you haven’t been exercising for a while, start off slowly.

Tip 2: You may need to adjust your diet to assist with burning fat and building muscle. Lean protein helps to build muscle and about 20% of your diet should be protein. Fats need to be part of your diet, but focus on the “good” fats like olive and canola oils, plants, nuts and seeds to be getting about 15% of your food as fats. Eliminate trans fats and hydrogenated oils completely, and that means fried and fast foods are out. The balance of your diet is carbohydrates, but focus on whole grain cereals and breads, fruit and vegetables, nuts and pulses. Avoid carbonated drinks, limit alcohol and coffee, and drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

Tip 3: It is important to work all parts of the abdominal group of muscles to achieve the six pack look. You need to do trunk twists to work the obliques, the upper abs need sit-up or crunch types of exercises and the lower abs need exercises that raise your legs. The abdominals are one group of muscles that can be worked every day, but vary the exercises and intensity to avoid muscle strain. You can continue to work your abs throughout the day by consciously contracting the abs by pulling them in towards the spine, and holding for a few seconds before releasing.

These exercises are the Ab Wheel, stability ball Jackknife and the Mountain Climber. Also, you may choose to do these exercises in circuit fashion for a powerful ab workout that doesn’t put any stress on your low back. Now, for the ab wheel, rest on your knees and begin in the upright position. Rollout and then squeeze your abs to come back up. From there, move immediately into the jackknives. So, with your elbows on the bench and your feet resting on the ball, keep your body in a straight line and brace your abs. Next, bring your knees into your chest, and then back out. Instead of placing your elbows on the bench, you can easily do this exercise by placing your hands on the ground. You can also add in some variations of the stability ball jackknife, including the 1-Legged Jackknife and the stability ball jackknife rotation. For the rotation, simply bring your knees up and in to one side and then switch to the other side. The final exercise is the Mountain Climber with a x-body rotation. But if you really desire to have six pack abs, then you will have to put in more willpower, patience and dedication.

Nowadays there’s just plenty of information from different references around us. When you get to read some articles or books about getting sexy abs, the most common tips are about building up abdominal muscles, losing fats and proper diet. These are the basics to be followed by people who desire to have six pack abs.

Aside from the basic advice that we get, there are still some other tips that are helpful for you to learn on how to get a six pack.

First, have motivation to take action for your goal. There are two ways to start on, whether you choose workouts that you enjoy, or you learn to enjoy the exercises that you choose. Keep in mind that you get to have two kinds of benefits, the immediate and the long term. You have to learn to recognize your achieved benefits as results of your fitness plan.

Second, a journal may be used to record your daily activities for your goal. A good example is a spiral notebook since its pages remain in proper order. You scan your entries once a week. Through this you can see your progress.

Third, since some people choose to change lifestyle gradually while some want it immediately, then you need to decide which from both is what you really want. Stick to your decision and follow your daily plan to achieve your goal.

Fourth, take several photos of your abdominal area as you begin your activities. Then take again every four weeks. It is not possible to see changes in days only. And as you follow your plan, you will recognize changes as weeks go by and as you compare those pictures.

Fifth, if you will weigh yourself everyday in a week, don’t get disappointed when you see that you’re weight is not decreasing. This is because you are building muscles and these are adding your weigh more than the fat you are losing. And also the water your body retains varies and will affect your total body weight.

Sixth, never skip meals and eat only 5-6 small meals a day with one serving, not larger than your palm, of each carbs and protein. This will help regulate your metabolism.

Seventh, use only the medicine balls to add weight during routines and the stability balls for a variety of crunches.

Lastly, do passive exercises if you don’t have much fat to lose. An example would be clenching your stomach while sitting down, or even when you walk towards the door. Try these habits and you’ll be surprised for the results.

What is a good six pack workout?

I don’t know about you but if you are anything like me, I had allot of trouble for years trying to get a good six pack workout! The one thing I have found that really makes a huge difference in obtaining some six pack abs is INTENSITY IN YOUR WORKOUT…period!

Obviously, there are some other elements that come into a good six pack workout, but for me personally I have found that I started to see the best results when I included high intensity into my workout.

Here are some common mistakes I was making with my workouts

I wasn’t warming up properly, what I mean is I wasn’t getting my heart rate up to a high level. I would cycle maybe run but at a very passive rate. Now, I warm up for ten minutes and it is at a very high impact level of INTENSITY! When you have a good foundation to work from the results will come a lot faster. This is definitely one issue you need to address if you want a good six pack workout!

I wasn’t following a proven plan that WORK’S! I only really use to do a few sit ups and expect to see my abs? What was I thinking? Anyhow, I started to follow a proven plan that consisted of full light weight training over the whole body. Once I started to understand the fundamentals of weight loss around the mid-section I begun to see FAT DROPPING OFF and shape setting in. You must work all muscle groups to gain the best results!

As far as my Diet goes, I would figure that because I was working out I could eat anything I really wanted and it wouldn’t matter…’Wrong again’. Having a good six pack workout is a system of 3 different parts all working together to produce a desired product! Without one of the parts you find it very difficult to achieve your goal.

I soon discovered that because my diet wasn’t changing a lot, my results were very poor. Basically I was putting to much sugar into my diet, too many carbs and poor protein! Now I watch what I eat and have found that I feel 100 times better? The healthy food I am pumping into my body has changed everything. I have more energy for the gym, my thought pattern is sharper and I am happy.

These are some of the major factors in getting a good six pack workout. There is a lot more to it but these facts are the basic picture of what it takes to get 6 pack abs.

Hi everboday and welcome back to the road to 6 pack abs workout challenge for week 5!  I would like to congradulate you all on making it this far.  Your commitment to this ab workout challenge is commendable and very impressive so keep up the good work as we are getting closer to week 6 and the half way point of this challenge.

Hopefully you are getting these ab workouts in at least 6 times a week.  They only take 10 minutes so I hope you are being consistent because like I have said before, that is the way to results!  If you have followed the program this far and have cleaned up your diet, you should be starting to see some results.  These would include starting to see your top abs, as well as your close fitting better and your energy increasing.

For week 5, we are going to step it up a notch.  The exercises are going to be a little harder but the harder they are, the more results you are going to get so try them out and keep doing them.  Be consistent and you will see that the exercises will become easier!  Now lets get to them!

12 Weeks to 6 Pack Abs Workout Challenge – Week 5 Exercises

Ab Exercise 1:  Medicine Ball Plank Switches

2 Sets of 12 Switches Each Side

Ab Exercise 2:  Medicine Ball Cross Knee Tuck

2 Sets of 10 Each Side

Ab Exercise 3:  Figure 8′s

2 Sets of 8 to 10

Ab Exercise 4:  Tubing Russian Twists

2 Sets of 12 Each Leg

Ab Exercise 5:  Physio Ball Running Man

2 Sets of 12 Each Leg

Hopefully these exercises won’t be too hard for you and you will be able to do them.  I am sure that if you are dedicated to the program thus far that you should have no trouble.

Lets talk a little about diet.  Your diet is very key to your success in this program.  As recommended a couple weeks ago, hopefully you have been to clean up your diet, stay away from sugary fatty foods and are starting to see results from it.  If you are having trouble and find yourself still not eating all entirely well then it is now that you need to make a commitment to eating better if you want to succeed in this program.  Its not going to be easy but try and stay away from unhealthy foods for the next 3 to 4 weeks.  You will see that as time goes on, the cravings will significantly decrease and your results going towards 6 pack abs will significantly increase, giving you all the motivation in the world to stick to a healthy diet.

In terms of meals, I recommend you eat 5 healthy meals a day.  That means that in a given week, you should eat 35 meals.  To give you some flexibility, try and make sure 30 of those meals are healthy.  This leaves you with 5 meals to play around with and cheat a little on your diet.

Back to your training now.  Remember to be consistent with your training and to perform the exercises in a slow controled fashion.  Make sure you are doing circuit training and moving through the exercises taking as few breaks as possible.  Circuit training workouts and a good diet are the key to achieving a ripped, lean, athletic and muscular body!
